Hey hey everyone! No Podcast this week for personal reasons - so I ended up posting a Mako Collection Comic called, "She Blinded Me With Science". This video comic is not the norm for me. I tend to focus on the darker side of TF's - but I've always loved Dexter's Lab - and felt a light hearted, somewhat innocent and funny comic could be done here. I hope you all enjoy. I had fun working with Zetarok on this one - as I felt he really nailed down the tone and vibe of the original series.
Yep. But I have recently pulled the plug on uploading these comics as there was some abuse of my past comics being used and even sold without my permission; without giving proper credit; or even given any form of reciprocation. I'm not the only one this has happened to. So I've chosen to limit the accessibility of the original comics for the time being.
Not really. I don't make any money off this while game makers are trying to make money to not only stay in business but have some extra cash to live off of. What I do here is not dependent on income. I choose to do it because I can. Losing a couple viewers has no negative effect on me. I'm not doing this to gain viewership - even though its sky rocketed for me in the past few years. That's just a nice bonus.
Really... so you endorse DRM and don't seem to care about legitimate viewers this approach would put off?
So let me ask you then, if you don't depend on this to make money, how is it hurting you when someone reposts it? Yeah, they shouldn't be allowed to profit from it, but this is the internet, someone's going to figure out how to screencap and edit low-quality stills from the videos sooner or later, you may make things marginally harder for those with the will and skill to be thieves, but again, the effects are doing far more to hurt legitimate viewers, whether or not you care about your view count, don't you at least care about the people? Hell, if you didn't care at all and/or weren't after popularity on some level, then you wouldn't post them at all, you'd keep them to yourself.
Disagree. Apples to Oranges. Sorry you don't like it - but no one has the "right" to have these. Doesn't hurt me at all. Just makes some angry that they feel "entitled" to something that they can't have selfishly.
It's not really entitlement, there is a version that some people might find preferable, due to your own paranoia about some undefined harm that could somehow be brought about by the inevitable side-effect of posting content on the internet of data theft, you end up arbitrarily deciding that only one form of that data is "safe" one less convenient.
What happens when people download and repost those videos, claiming ownership of them? Do you really think the process of having youtube take those down will be any easier or more effective in the big picture scenario than DA's policy on pic thieves?
If you are providing the content in one form anyway, then you're still risking it being misappropriated, thus showing it in a limited form only is really quite baffling.
I chose it because it felt like the right misfortune to happen to Dexter. He wants to be a 21 year old man. The opposite of that to me was a female. Dexter is also very smart - so what's the opposite to that? If I did the same thing to Dee Dee and made her into an older man - I would have made her ultra smart. The way in which I twisted Dexter's plight - I felt - pretty much fell in line with the common practices the show took with him.
Omigawd! Luv this video! I so remember watching Dexter's Lab when I was a kid. I was so much like Dee Dee, loving pink girly stuff. The difference though, is that I was a bit smarter than she was. Anyway, loved that show was I was a little girl and I so really enjoyed this video. Great job Mako!
Nope. It's not on my original video. Must have been something YouTube must have accidentally added when they converted my video during the uploading process. Good observation - didn't really see that before you pointed it out.
